A SEAT ON A KEG.OF GUNPOWDER !

It's now a couple of days now that the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Buhari left the shore of the country for the United Kingdom so as to attend to his failing health issues.

It would be recalled that this was not the very first time that the President would embark on such a similar trip abroad .  Early this year, the same trip was made by the president.
It's no longer a news that the President is seriously battling with an health issue. This is  not a big deal. The president is also a human being. By that he's susceptible to health challenges. In all these  trips, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has been acting as the President in
his stead .

The Country's Constitution is very clear on the issue . Each time the President is out of the country, the constitution has it that  the vice President should act on his behalf.

It would be recalled that when the late former President Umoru Yar'Adua was outside the country to attend to his failing health, his then vice President, Goodluck Jonathan, acted on his behalf as the acting President . Un fortunately, the president eventually passed on. This unfortunate situation led to the vice President being sworn in as the new President and  Commander In-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This was done in line with the dictates of the Nigeria Constitution, even though  this arrangement doesn't go well with  some Northern elites.

Having completed the four-year term, President Jonathan recontested again and won, even though some of the Northern cabal were against it. They claimed  that the North was suppose  to complete their "eight -year term" before power shifts to the South.

As the health condition of the President  seems to be continually deteriorating, some of the Northern cabal have been calling for the outright " sacking" of the Acting President. It was recently alleged that the Chief of Staff to the President, was parading hiself as the acting President.

Every sincere Nigerian by now should be praying for the quick recovery of the President rather than be playing politics with his health issue.  Without mincing  words, some of the so-called Northern  elites are not being sincere with the President and the country as a whole. All what they (the cabal) are interested in
is their own interests. That was why they played politics with the former late president Umoru Yar'Adua, which eventually led to his "untimely" death. They're  bunch of sycophants and political jobbers.

A couple of days ago, the Army Chief, Gen. Y. Tukur Buratai raised an alarm over some politicians who were trying to connive with the Military to truncate the Democratic government through a Coup d'etat.  If the Army Chief could give such a
warning, such an alarm should shouldn't be treated with a pinch of salt. This development might not be unconnected with the recent postings in the Nigerian Army where some Army officers were transferred away from their former stations to new ones.

A former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, in one of his recent articles, spoke at length on the coup's threat. In the article,he explained how some Northern politicians were planning to coopt  with the Military to overthrow the democratic Federal government of Nigeria.

The Northern cabal want this done for the power to still be with the North  for quite sometime. The questions  that beg for an answer are; Was it the  fault of the Southerners for the president, being a Northerner to have been sickly? Do the Northerners think that the presidency is their "birthright"?,... .

It's high time  the Northerners learn how to live in peace with other ethnic groups of the country.
I was recently discussing with a friend over the issues of the herdsmen. How some of them, instead of pasturing their cows, have became " gunmen" killing any  innocent Nigerian farmer who dare query them over the destructive activities of their cows on their farm . Take for instance, it has became a recurring "decimals" in Benue State where you hardly woke up in a day without the news of an herdsmen killing the farmers on their farms for the simple reason of the farmer trying to resist the cows from eating up their crops on their farms. These herdsmen go about with sophisticated weapons like the A-K 47, Pistols, Clubs, cutlasses, knives, arrows and bows, and so on. Gone are the days when you see an herdsmen with only their "directing" sticks and their bottles of water  and nothing more !

Nigeria belongs to both the North and the South. Though some Nigerians are of the opinion that the 1914 amalgamation of the Northern and the Southern protectorates which eventually became Nigeria by the then Governor-General, Sir Lord Frederick Lugard  was a huge mistake. They said it's a marriage of inconvenience. It's to be noted that China is the most populous nation of the world, still they ( the Chinese) see each of the ethnic groups as one China. Whereas, as populous as we think we are in Nigeria, we are by far less than the Chinese in population.
With the present situation in the country, there's need for us not to allow the situation to degenerate into what happened in 1966 which eventually led to the outbreak of the civil war, where many innocent life were unreasonably wasted. Bad history should not be allowed to repeat itself ! Otherwise, the outcome won't be palatable to us all.
A word, they say, is enough for the wise.
