PROUDNESS !,..., A CATALYST TO A TOTAL DESTRUCTION !

Of all the creatures created by God,man seems the most well organized and cultured. Take for instance, it's a common thing to see two dogs; a male and a female mating in the open. To them, it's a normal thing. So,they attached little importance to it, even when human beings are passing by when they're in the act.
According to the Zoologists, man is referred to as an higher animal because of his complexity interms of the intellectual capacity he possesses.
That's why man is not expected to involve himself in doing certain things.
Biblical history had it that man, at a time, spoke the same language. Because of this, they decided to build a tower that would reach heaven. This was, however, contrary to God's plan when He said they should replenish and filled the surface of the earth. With the same language, they had the same idea and culture. God now decided to scatter them so that His purpose on them could be achieved. Having done this, man began to speak different languages and as such, they began to have different cultures.
By definition, culture is defined as a way of life of people living in a place over a period of time. In Nigeria for example, an Hausa man is recognized by his way of dressing. So also is an Ibo man. The same is also true of the Yorubas.
It's expected of a Yoruba boy to prostate while greeting anybody that's older than him, most especially his parents irrespective of his status or the level of his educational attainment. The same thing applies to a Yoruba girl. If otherwise, such a child would be considered to have lacking a home training. He or she could even be addressed as a bastard.
It's commonly seen among our parents each time you see them greeting a younger person, especially their children, to bend down or lowering their heads as a sign of respect. Which means that respect is reciprocal.
Anyone who expect people to accord him or her respect should equally be ready to accord respect to others.
Respect shouldn't be seen as a one way thing. Respect goes beyond age, class and status. Take for instance, an elderly person who expect a younger one to respect him or her should be ready to do likewise to the later. A rich man or woman who want to be respected by the poor should be ready to accord the poor the respect they deserved.
No matter what our societal status is, we should clothed ourselves with humility.
No wonder as the common saying goes that "Proudness precedes destruction and humility precedes greatness."
